Aerotomography

A technology for remote surveying of the Earth using light unmanned aerial vehicles that can be used in a wide variety of industries: from geological exploration to careful archeology surveys, from engineering geology to agriculture and environmental monitoring.

About the project

Our aero-complex was created by a team of geophysicists, geologists, engineers, physicists and software developers at the junction of innovative technologies on the base of Novosibirsk State University and Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics SB RAS. We are continuing our development, striving to make it even better and to add more diversified tools with the help of specialists from Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radio-electronics and Tomsk Polytechnic University. At this time, more than a 100 specialists of various profiles are working with us on the project.

Aerotomography has a wide variety of applications and can be used both to verify the previous results of complex and specialized surveys, and to obtain new data in hard-to-reach areas.

Our gamma-ray spectrometer and a unique small-sized laser complex of gas analyzers allow gas surveys and environmental monitoring for more than 100 different types of chemicals.

The density difference of the bodies in the near-surface layer, due to differences in their structure and composition, is re ected in the magnetic eld in the form of anomalies, and even the smallest ones will be recorded by a unique high-frequency magnetometer: ancient paths, traces of bon res, the remains of camping grounds, dwellings, and others.

Aeromagnetic tomography is very useful for search and exploration of oil and gas elds. In the magnetic eld Oil-Water Contact and Gas-Water Contact are expressed by ring anomalies, by which it is quite possible to distinguish the boundaries of the deposit and the gas cap.

Search for objects – emergency results

Another promising area of application of aeromagnetic tomography is the search for objects resulting from emergencies. Low-level aeromagnetic survey allows to localize any objects underground, including old mine eld and battle eld clearing.

Industrial monitoring, engineering and agricultural surveys

The technology is used to search and reconnaissance of surface changes in soil structure (buried ditches, pits, old trails, crop fields borders). Monitoring of pipelines or other facilities for unauthorized taps, underground passages. The identification of faults according to magnetometry data contributes to the tasks of engineering surveys. The photometric multispectral complex allows the analysis of crop ripening.

By the decision of the Interdepartmental Working Group on financing the development of our airmobile complexes within the framework of the Aeronet roadmap of the National Technological Initiative, the Russian Government de nitely established the "Aerotomography" project as leading and having priority.

Global usability

Global usability

Our technology can be used all over the globe, with the exception of the Polar Regions. In addition, the use of UAVs does not require expensive infrastructure, compared to the standard aeromagnetic surveys. They makes it easier to work on rough terrain, in the presence of water barriers, shrubs, rock glaciers, swamps or forests and allow survey in nature conservation and specially protected areas.

History and recognition

History and recognition

The project has been developing since 2012. Over the time, we have won several scienti c competitions and grants in the eld of nancing research and development, and have become residents of the Novosibirsk Academpark and the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

Fieldwork

Over the years, more than 50 areas were surveyed and more than 20 works were published. We have performed geology surveys for Alrosa, JSC Rusgeology, Nornickel, Severstal and others
